Tom Chambers at Modernbook

Eclectix was able to ogle the new show of Tom Chambers photo-montages Entropic Kingdom and strongly recommend this captivating show. His images are like fairy tales, with a bit of Pre-Rahaelite and Alfred Hitchcock. Seamless incarnations of elaborate set-up shots, prom dresses and falling gauze, floating or walking on water. At Modernbook in San Francisco, it is a beautiful, large exhibition full of one satisfying image after another. Just a few posted here…
His newer images, Illumination taken in Italy are my personal favorites, hinting of reverence, holy lighting and archaic Catholic rituals – all a little out of balance. The book is equally enchanting and Tom will be signing them, tonight!
“Tom Chambers was born and raised on a farm in the Amish country of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Tom completed a B.F.A. in 1985 from Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Florida with an emphasis in graphic design and strong interest in photography. For many years Tom has worked as a graphic designer, including the design of packaging and magazines. Since 1998 Tom has devoted himself to photomontage for sharing the intriguing unspoken stories which reflect his view of the world and elicit feelings in the viewer.” – Via Modernbook
