Pharmaceutical Bird Box Art by Sara Landeta
Madrid-based artist Sara Landeta creates beautiful vintage colored and inspired birds on the back of boxes. Using the inside of medicine boxes, Sara’s ornithological paintings are inspired by the work of 19th-century artist John James Audubon.
The works explore the idea of exterior versus interior, natural versus synthetic and the notion that the very survival of mankind depends on nature and not on man-made pharmaceuticals. Her simple juxtaposition of the organic softness of colorful animal life – against the sterile, clean hard edges of a mass produced object – is sublime.
