Artitechture: The Russian Underground

The recent advertising campaign Discover the Full Story, designed by  Saatchi & Saatchi Moscow, comprises a series of incredible illusions of iconic Russian architecture. The upper part of each image is a detailed rendering of a famous building and at ground level, imagination takes over, portraying a fantastic underground city deep in the bowels of the earth.

The ad campaign promotes the Shchusev State Museum of Architecture, whose collection reflects the thousand-year history of Russia’s architectural heritage. It is the first museum of architecture in the world.

Using three symbolic buildings in the city – the main building of Lomonosov Moscow State University, St Basil’s Cathedral on Red Square and the Bolshoi Theatre – the images demonstrate that behind the familiar exterior hides a story and there is much more to be discovered.
