PREVIEW: Pamela Wilson is Electric Sugar

Loving all things that Pamela Wilson puts her brush to – we had to give a shout out about her new solo show coming up. The exhibition - Electric Sugar – opens this Saturday, Feb. 9th (on display through March 2nd) at Distinction Gallery in Escondido.

The title is aptly pulled from a Tom Waits song and is featured on the exhibit promo - “And over in, the burnt yellow tent, by the frozen tractor, the music was like electric sugar…”

Pamela’s themes comprise circus antics, victorious lasses clad in striped stockings, clown haired urchins, pirate wenches and real women.  Her “carnivale” palette is dusty and time-worn, seen through a depression-era haze of amber golds and rusted reds. Full of posers, tragic heroes, cast offs and frolickers – Pamela’s art is delightfully sassy feminist modern mixed with Victorian steampunk.
