We thought it was about time to revisit the work of local San Francisco artist Michael Page. He has quite a few fantastic new paintings on his site. Full of surreal swirls, morphing smears, brilliant colors and an overall ambient trance-like feel – Michael’s works are an acid trip captured on canvas. We love the distorted movement and surprising elements he pops into each piece.
You can see the mind-blowing painting (above) in person at the upcoming exhibition - Something Wicked This Way Comes, link here, at Cella Gallery in Los Angeles. There are quite a few outstanding artists in this show: Annie Owens, Christian Rex van Minnen, Christine Wu, Chrystal Chan, David Ball, Fulvio Di Piazza, Jana Brike, Jessica Ward, Judith Supine, and Michael Page. Opening: Feb. 23rd, 7-10 pm
I really was not trying to have a single narrative with this body of work, but rather trying to show brief moments in time. I wanted the paintings to have more of dreamlike feel to them. That’s the concept behind all of these ideas and where these paintings are coming from. They represent moments in time, dreams, reality, deja vu, or even past lives. – Via Warholian
