Klaus Haapaniemi: Modern Folklores

 Klaus Haapaniemi

Featured Artist: Klaus Haapaniemi

Klaus Haapaniemi’s artwork is inspired by nature, Finnish folklore, fantasy and traditional decorative arts. They’ve a silkscreened feel to them with super saturated color and clean edges. Animated flora and fauna pose, surrounded by bright patterns and splashes of modern graphics. Klaus has also designed textiles, pillows and ceramics with his art; they are covered with his magical critters which frolic among ornamental swirling trees and flowers, flowing in designed motifs of splendor.

Klaus Haapaniemi counts the Russian illustrator Ivan Bilibin among his early influences. “When I was growing up in Finland, I saw lots of his work in illustrated children’s books.”
