John Wentz’s Music Icons are a fresh series of paintings he has just completed. Incredible portraits of well loved musicians, capturing their characteristic personas, all wrapped up in John’s sweet n’ loose brushstrokes. Unified by the same color palette, they are all oils, painted on real vinyl records. And it certainly doesn’t hurt, that I personally love all these rockers – I am sure they are honored by John’s touch, be they dead or alive.
Four of them are currently on display in San Francisco at Gauntlet Gallery, part of the show, Music Sounds Better With You. If you get a chance, to see them – the exhibit is up until Nov. 9th, 2013. Not sure if they have all sold or not – but Xmas is coming…
