George Dawnay is a local figurative artist adept in pastels, graphite as well as painting. His works are akin to invented human deities, old school figures with a bit of the sacred. Many are clothed in nun or pope-like robes and centered in an iconic way – portraiture ready for a modern day altar. We love his style and expression -earthy, dripping and compassionate humanity, lit by northern white lighting.
