Exhibit Preview: Encyclopedia Botanica

Coming up at Arch Enemy Arts is a spring inspired group show - Encyclopedia Botanica, with the works of 33 artists. A selection of really beautiful diverse images and styles comprise this unique look at all that botany and “new growth” has to offer. The theme gains added meaning by the use of the word botanica - a shop that deals in herbs and charms used especially by adherents of Santeria. (American Spanish botánica, from feminine of Spanish botánico botanical)

Spring is the season for rebirth and in places like Philadelphia, where each season is so strongly defined, we just don’t feel like spring is really upon us until you get that sudden wave of regrowth. Every tree, every crack in the sidewalk, every spot of dirt begins to burst with new leaves, grass, weeds, and flowers. That’s when it finally feels like spring to us. - Arch Enemy
