bowie day of the dead art - eclectix

Here on Eclectix we don’t usually write long examinations of artists and their work, preferring to let the art speak for itself, the image to be interpreted by the individual viewer… However, with the passing of David Bowie – an art movement has come to a close and the ramifications of his life compelled us to go further into this artist. He was like no other.

Featured Artist: Sebastian Wahl

We’ve been meaning to feature Sebastian Wahl’s crazy collages for months now and since he has a dual solo show (with fellow artist Justin Lovato) opening up – it seems a perfect time. They collaborated on the outstanding piece above together for the exhibition card, we’re just loving the way it makes one’s eyes go all jelly-welly.

Colorful and swirling, eye-candy mysticism forms the basis for his imagery – mused by sacred geometry and shamanic visions. Sebastian channels these inspirations into the form of psychedelic landscapes, iconic, mandalic and spiritual mayhem.

This year for Art Basel 2014, we thought we’d compile our favorites  of the newest street art. Much of the art is curated by the Wynwood Walls project, a warehouse district that has become a street complex of giant canvases, evolving into the city’s trendiest arts district, since 2009.
