Captured at the Bedford Gallery

The Captured exhibit at the Bedford Gallery is an eclectic mix of taxidermy, cabinets of curiosities, field collections and vintage installations related to scientific studies and specimens from our natural world.  The fine art is based on these elements as well and portrays insects, bones, leaves, seed pods and multiple furry critters. Many sculptures and a whole lot of photography. The Bedford is one of our favorite art spaces in the East Bay with lots of space, light and a good flow to the walk through. Due to the glass covering the art, especially the specimen boxes, it was impossible to get photos of some of our favorite works – you need to see the show in person to appreciate this well laid out and interesting exhibit.

“Artists in this show will illustrate how a complex and rewarding dialogue between the arts, scientific exploration, and organic, found materials has been staged in a contemporary context.” - Via Bedford Gallery
