Exhibit Preview: Brian Mashburn, Contenders
Coming up in Los Angeles this weekend is a solo exhibit by Brian Mashburn, titled Contenders. His beautiful landscapes feature deserted cities, wildly majestic tangled trees, and usually one other lonely life form perusing a damaged misty environment.
This new series of gorgeous small paintings, spotlight a rooster as the sole survivor in a post apocalyptic world – the rooster lending a spark of hope and life juxtaposed against futuristic urban decay. In some, the townships on the horizon have an Asian pagoda flavor, towering above layers of hazy fogs. In others – chain link fences and abandoned tires comprise the foreground, while the city whispers from a watercolor silhouette.
My paintings are about accumulation and consequence, contrast and depth, narrative and observation. – Brian Mashburn
The show opens Saturday, April 25, 2015 with a reception at 6:00pm – 9:00pm.
(Show runs thru May 16th)
( Two other great shows are opening at Thinkspace as well: GUMBO with Alex Yanes, James Bullough, Matthew Grabelsky, Ryan Hewett, Sergio Garcia, Troy Coulterman, Troy Lovegates and a solo by BEC WINNEL. )
