BookNook

We were able to drop into KRK Ryden’s book signing for his new book Double Talk, at Varnish Fine Arts over the weekend. Not only was KRK signing, but he was very busy drawing full-on illustrations in the front of each book, adeptly and graciously. We were able to capture the ease and flow with which he drew the bratty little girl from The Bad Seed (below).

Double Talk is a book of wonderfully  illustrated homographs from KRK. The hard-bound, 114-page book—KRK’s first—features 51 black-and-white illustrations and a short essay about the artist.

Fun and comic-based, it has just enough hidden adult innuendos to enable a perfect cross over between adult and children alike. We’ve featured some sample pages of the book, below – to give you an idea of his whimsical approach to illustrating homographs. And if you don’t know what a homograph is, there is even an explanation.

You may order the books here, through Last Gasp, Varnish or Porterhouse.
