Artitechture = Art & Architecture

Sunray Kelly

The architecture of Sunray Kelly is Inspired by nature,  resembling magical tree houses which might be inhabited by elves. Using round hobbit-like shapes provided by Mother Earth, he incorporates whole tree trunks, branches and found logs as framework, hunting the forests of his home in the Pacific Northwest for the perfect additions. Moss covers roofs, branches form arching banisters and tree trunks grace entranceways and inner doorways.

A Fairytale Come True – The Admont Abbey Library

Not Just Architecture, But Artitechture

The Admont Abbey Library in Austria, designed by the architect Joseph Hueber, is the oldest monastic library in the world. While the abbey itself was completed in 1074, the library (late Baroque) was not completed until 1776. At 70 metres long, it is also the largest in the world and features flamboyant ceiling frescoes, wooden sculptures and gold busts.

Water Tower Art Exhibit

Artitechture: Water Tower Art Exhibit

There is a great show which opened last Friday, of 50 illustrated water towers at Kikkerland in NYC. If you love models, little houses, run down shacks and weird little structures as much as we do, this is a must see! Composed of small models of water towers, they are each adorned in their own way by individual artists. The show is curated by artists Chris Buzelli (above) and SooJin Buzelli for Boundless Brooklyn, who donated and sells the model kits.
